Qihoo Pays $17 Million For 360.com

Chinese software company Qihoo has purchased 360.com for $17 Million. There has been no comment from the company officially, but China Daily was able to access registry information that shows the website was transferred from Vodafone to Qihoo.

This is a record as far as domain purchasing goes the previous records include china.com and mi.com which were both a couple million each. Keep in mind that this is just for the domain, and not the actual content of the website. Also, keep in mind that this is not a full-fledged business but was simply a domain owned by Vodafone.

What Qihoo plans to do with this is not currently known, some speculate that it will be used for the United States and abroad as the main website 360.cn is focused on China. Maybe, we are seeing Qihoo finally reaching out to the entire U.S. market but only time will tell.
